Reveal the Child-God
There comes a moment in the finding of soul
When all that has been glorious is dashed,
The years ofinnerness, the years of search
Ended as we face the dark within
And see the smallness of our human state.
Face to face with our ignominy,
All the sordidness of mortal being
Rises mightily before our eyes.
We cannot believe such pettiness resides
In us who seek the high beatitudes,
House the suppurating wounds of life,
Debasement and the dark proclivity.
The human soul aspiring to the God
Must meet the evil on the roads of time
Knowing that hell is the accelerant,
The rapid path towards the one Divine,
And yet such horror seen that is but ours.
Can we divorce from our mortality,
And solitary rise to those seer heights,
The need of anger, greed, lust and sin
Or must we suffer too the endless flame
Till man is purified of all desire
Or finding insufficient life's rewards
Confront the evil barking at our door,
Face the endless Void with inborn light
Tear the mask from all things undivine,
Reveal the child-God lurking in the heart,
The hidden truth that waits its hour to rule.
